‘Gator Face’ Brings Practical Creature Horror to Theaters

Epic Pictures and Dread are heading back into drive-in horror territory with Gator Face, a new creature feature built around practical effects, real locations, and one particularly simple promise: real alligators, real teeth, real terror.
Written and directed by Padraig Reynolds, Gator Face will open in select theaters September 11, 2026, before arriving on digital platforms September 15.
The production leans heavily into the tactile side of horror filmmaking, with Epic Pictures emphasizing the use of practical effects and the film’s affection for classic drive-in cinema. In an era when creature features can disappear beneath layers of digital effects, there is something immediately appealing about a movie willing to put actual physical elements in front of the camera and let the danger feel close enough to bite.
